This is the point in the off season that I have the hardest time with the waiting. I am waiting to know where Danny Syvret will end up. I am waiting for the AHL schedule. I am waiting for training camp information.

Since there is not much I can do about any of the things I am waiting for I thought I would come up with a write up on why a team should sign Danny Syvret.

Gm's

Does your team need a reliable, puck moving, 6th or 7th defenseman?
I have got your guy right here. Danny Syvret has just under 60 regular season NHL games and 10 NHL playoff games. He has averaged .73 points a game in the AHL over the last three seasons and 7 points in his limited NHL career.
Danny knows how to control the pace of a game and makes a great quarterback for a 2nd or 3rd power play unit. His point shot gets to the net through the traffic. Danny keeps it simple and makes that great first pass out.
Aside from his on ice offense Danny is an off ice leader. Great with fans, well spoken with the media and all around team player.
Danny was apart of the OHL London Knights memorial cup team in 2005 as well as the World Junior championship team.
Danny would come at a very cap friendly price as well.
What are you waiting for GM's sign him now!

Thanks as always for reading!

12/8/10 Sharks at Flyers and Twitter points update

First I want to say that if you are not following Phantoms players Danny Syvret and Stefan Legein you truly are missing out on some really funny things.  Please follow these guys.

It was pointed out that I need to add Mike Testwuide & Andrew Rowe to my points list as I have seen them play and they are on twitter.

Danny Syvret (@dannysyvret) 48

Andrew Rowe (@RoweAndrew) 40
Mike Testwuide (@MikeTestwuide) 20
Matt Moulson (@mmoulson) 20
Mike Cammalleri (@mcammalleri13) 20
Stefan Legein (@Stefanlegein) 10
Rob Schremp (@Robschremp) 4

Future possible points Danny Syvret 40, Stefan Legein 40, Mike Testwuide 40, Andrew Rowe 40, & Mike Cammalleri 20

Ok well by now you have read all the analysis on the Sharks game so I am not even going to try to say anything further especially since the Flyers have already played again vs Toronto and won.  Who cares about the loss 2 days ago.

Just look at the pictures then....

My next hockey adventure is a Phantoms game.  Hopefully weather permitting I will attend.  Right now the weather looks promising.

Phantoms @ Bears &Twitter points update

Well as I tweeted the other night I am giving Danny Syvret and Stefan Legein each 5 points for making me laugh.  I think I really needed a laugh at that point in the day.  There banter was great.  Danny played in the game I saw last night.  Stefan did not.  So here are the new standings.

 Danny Syvret (@dannysyvret) 48
Matt Moulson (@mmoulson) 20
Mike Cammalleri (@mcammalleri13) 20
Stefan Legein (@Stefanlegein) 5
Rob Schremp (@Robschremp) 4

Future possible points Danny Syvret 40, Stefan Legein 40, Mike Cammalleri 20.

Phantoms at the Bears

Truly seeing the Phantoms take the long slow spiral down is not at all fun.  I was hoping that they had already hit bottom and would work their way back up.  Last night's game was proof that the way back up is long and far.  The coaches and players have a long road ahead of them.  I feel truly sad at the whole situation.  It is very much like watching the 06-07 Flyers.  If that is the model then this team will be back and it will be with a vengeance.

I see glimmers of hope with in the game.  I loved Logan Stephenson in front of the goalie.  He drew a penalty like a pro.  It looked like an absolute street fight in there.

Holmstrom & Wellwood both have alot of potential.  I can't wait til it is all unleashed.

11/22/10 Habs @ Flyers and Twitter points update

First the good news I successfully saw Mike Cammalleri play in the Center.  The first time since he has been a Hab.  20 points to him for that.

Second the bad news Stefan Legein is injured, will not play on Saturday.  I won't subtract his points til he doesn't play but I think you can see its coming.

Danny Syvret (@dannysyvret) 23
Matt Moulson (@mmoulson) 20
Stefan Legein (@Stefanlegein) 20
Mike Cammalleri (@mcammalleri13) 20
Rob Schremp (@Robschremp) 4

Expected points changes Danny Syvret +20, Stefan Legein -20, and Mike Cammalleri +20

Habs @ Flyers

This game to me was about two things.  Getting to watch Mike Cammalleri in person and testing out my new camera.  Both were successful.  The new camera is going to take getting used to especially the zoom at its highest setting.

So that you can compare here is a picture I took of the snow wagon with the camera I had been using

Here is a picture I took of the same wagon last night

You can see how much closer I am able to get with the new camera.

Here is the full set of pictures.  Warmups are all pretty much Habs folks.

Back to the game itself  Mike was not the factor he usually is in these games.  I felt the Habs started strong and ended poor and the Flyers started poor, got lucky and pulled it off.  I was surprised at how disciplined the Flyers were in this game despite their lackluster start.

Have to see how the next game goes.  I think almost everyone knows how displeased I am with the NHL schedule makers for putting Calgary vs the Flyers on this Friday.  Black Friday the one day each year I can not attend a Flyers game.  I work til after the game starts.  I am sure many more of you out there are working a longer day then I am that day but I can never see the annual Black Friday matinee.  Ah well that is what DVR's are for right?

Next update will be this weekend after the Phantoms visit the Bears.  Should be interesting to see a rebuilt team + the new/old coach.

Syvret returns and twitter points update

Well I did not go to Syracuse as I had originally planned this past weekend so twitter points continue to stand as

 Danny Syvret (@dannysyvret) 23
Matt Moulson (@mmoulson) 20
Stefan Legein (@Stefanlegein) 20
Rob Schremp (@Robschremp) 4
Mike Cammalleri (@mcammalleri13) 0

Potential points Danny Syvret 20, Stefan Legein 20 and Mike Cammalleri 20.

Mike's points should get added after tonight and Syvret & Legein after Saturday.

Tonight I am attending the Habs at the Flyers.  I am again testing another new camera.  I think this one will be much more to my satisfaction as it is essentially a newer version of my current camera.   Follow my twitter stream tonight for pictures and updates.  Just a reminder I am a Mike Cammalleri fan.

Syvret is returned to the Flyers organization.  I know that everyone expects me to be on top of the world at his return.  I would say that I am not.  I do not see Syvret getting his NHL shot with his return to the Flyers.  I most want to see Syvret play full time at the NHL level.  Anaheim looked like a bright ray of hope for Syvret to keep with the NHL squad out of camp and then reality came.  He was up and down for October & November.  Ducks having complied too many defensemen and the injured now getting healthy Syvret was now on the outside.
Flyers trade and bring him back.  Where it is very much the same situation as the Ducks.  The Flyers have 7 healthy d on the roster with one coming back from injury in the near future.  Syvret most likely will not see ice time for the Flyers this season.
Syvret chose to sign elsewhere this summer.  In my opinion I would not expect him to be resigned by the Flyers next season either.

I did find it odd that the Flyers traded to get 2 players who chose to pass on the Flyers for other teams.  Is that Holmgren sending a message to players?
